Acrylic on Canvas
I had held onto a canvas I had built and painted some terrible nonsense on since college, and never could figure out what to do with it. In October of 2017 I found myself in the position to need a palette cleanser between larger projects to decided to tackle this canvas for the first time in 20 years. I coated the sucker in white gesso, then stared at it for a week.
Eventually I settled on a self-portrait, which I haven’t tried in years. I’ve really been enjoying a sort of duo/monotone style of painting, or at least that is what I call it, and opted to go with that for the self portrait. Of course, because I can’t ever do anything normal, I opted to transform myself in Odin; my own version of Mr. Wednesday. There are worst guys to model yourself on than Ian McShane…
